Latest research on Gentamicin

A complex of three different closely related aminoglycoside sulfates, Gentamicins C1, C2, and C1a, obtained from Micromonospora purpurea and related species. They are broad-spectrum antibiotics, but may cause ear and kidney damage. They act to inhibit protein synthesis (genetic translation). [PubChem]

Obstetric IEC isolates showed higher percentages of resistance to all the antibiotics than VEC isolates except for Imipenem (only one vaginal resistant isolate), which was highly significant for Gentamicin (22.2% versus 3.7%, respectively; p = 0.001) (Fig 2). [source, 2016]
In addition, the aerobactin synthesis gene iucC was significantly more frequently found among the TETRACYCLINE, trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole, Gentamicin and chloramphenicol-resistant isolates in comparison with the susceptible isolates. [source, 2016]
A review of the current empiric treatment may be necessary, considering the high prevalence of Ampicillin and Gentamicin resistance in E. coli isolates collected from women with postpartum endometritis and intraamniotic infection, in agreement with previous reports [18], [22]. [source, 2016]
Axenic cultures of E. huxleyi 624 were prepared by adding 1 mL of a dense E. huxleyi culture into 4 mL of f/2 -Si containing an Antibiotic cocktail of Penicillin G (3 mM), dihydrostreptomycin sulfate (0.2 mM), and Gentamicin (0.5 mM). [source, 2016]
Several in vitro models using either human or animal cells have been developed to study the activity of antibiotics against intracellular S. aureus, and a corresponding in vivo model (murine peritonitis) has recently been described and tested with antibiotics, including Linezolid, β-lactams, Gentamicin, Azithromycin, rifampicin, or dicloxacillin5650. For the Gentamicin protection assay, phagocyte pellets were resuspended with PBS containing 50 μg/ml Gentamicin to kill any adherent extracellular bacteria and washed twice to remove the Gentamicin. [source, 2016]
Culture media (CM) for dendritic cells (DCs) and T-cells was RPMI 1640 (Invitrogen) supplemented with 10% heat deactivated FBS (Gibco) or 1% mouse serum (MS), 200mM L-Glutamine (Lonza), 100mM sodium pyruvate (Lonza), 50mM 2-mercaptoethanol (Gibco), 0.25% penicillin/streptomycin (Lonza), non-essential amino acids (1%v/v), Gentamicin (12.5ug/ml) (Lonza) and Amphotericin B (12.5ng/ml) (Lonza). GV3101 containing the TRV-VIGS vectors were grown at 28 °C in LB medium containing 10 mM MES buffer (pH5.6) and 20 mM acetosyringone with appropriate antibiotics (Gentamicin and rifampicin for GV3101, Kanamycin for pTRV1 or pTRV2). [source, 2016]
5–7 week old female BALB/c or BALB/c nu/nu mice (NCI) were treated with TETRACYCLINE 1 mg/ml, STREPTOMYCIN 2 mg/ml, Gentamicin 0.1 mg/ml [26]. [source, 2016]
The most frequent Antibiotic treatment for preterm rupture of membranes, suspected chorioamnionitis or neonatal sepsis and bacterial meningitis is Ampicillin plus an aminoglycoside, normally Gentamicin, whereas for postpartum endometritis, Clindamycin or Ampicillin plus Gentamicin are prescribed.
