Latest research on Pemetrexed

Pemetrexed (brand name Alimta) is a chemotherapy drug manufactured and marketed by Eli Lilly and Company. Its indications are the treatment of pleural mesothelioma as well as non-small cell lung cancer.

Pemetrexed dosage

Patients in the Pemetrexed arm group were instructed to take Folic acid (1 mg orally daily) from 1 week before the administration of the first dose of Pemetrexed, until 3 weeks after the last dose. [source, 2016]
Intramuscular injection of Vitamin B12 (1.000 μg) was administered 1 week before the first dose administration of Pemetrexed and was repeated every three cycles. [source, 2016]
Pemetrexed doses were reduced by 25% in patients with grade ≥ 4 neutropenia, febrile neutropenia, grade ≥ 3 thrombocytopenia, or a grade ≥ 3 non-hematologic toxicity, other than nausea, vomiting, and alopecia. [source, 2016]
The dose of Pemetrexed was decreased in two patients (4%). [source, 2016]
Planned chemotherapy doses were Pemetrexed 500 mg/m2; Carboplatin, area under the curve = 6, (as of December 31, 2010, maximum possible dose of 900 mg), Paclitaxel 200 mg/m2; bevacizumab 15 mg/kg. [source, 2015]
The mean dose intensities in the safety (treated) population were similar for both the arms (%, standard deviation): Pemetrexed 92.3 (10.8) and Carboplatin 94.1 (11.1) for the Pem+Cb arm; Paclitaxel 91.5 (14.9), Carboplatin 92.8 (15.5), and bevacizumab 93.3 (15.5) for the Pac+Cb+Bev arm. Patients received a standard dose of Pemetrexed (500 mg/m2) on day 1 followed by oral nintedanib twice daily on days 2–21. [source, 2015]
Nintedanib at a dose of 200 mg twice daily was thus found to be the recommended dose for continuous daily treatment in combination with standard-dose Pemetrexed for patients with advanced or metastatic NSCLC. [source, 2015]
The patients were treated with 4 to 9 cycles of chemotherapy comprising Cisplatin and low dose Gemcitabine in prolonged infusion, or Cisplatin and Pemetrexed. [source, 2015]
Patients were randomised to Pemetrexed(PM) with or without ITZ (PM+ITZ) at a dose of 200 mg/day, on a 21-day cycle, with PM 500 mg/m2 on day 1, and ITZ daily. [source, 2015]
